I have been writing about this to legislators in New York for weeks about this. Only got two responses. Who needs to see this most so that daily testing at every wastewater plant can start?
I have sent a letter as chair of the Long Range Planning committee of the Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board to many state and city legislators about this suggesting daily testing at all the sewage treatment plants. I've sent to quite a few from the press as well. Got a quick reply from Sen. Krueger saying she would pass it along and another from staff of Councilmember Constantinedes head of Environmental Protection Committee saying they've been looking at it. But nobody seems to have told the Mayor or Governor about it. They seem to be blind to this. We are sending a letter to the editor replying to the Speaker's list of tests that need to happen, but left out wastewater. It's frustrating trying to break through.
I appreciate the analysis. I had previously seen an article about the Paris study. It seems at the least that a testing data base should be built and, as our communities are "opened up", continued testing at WTPs should be used to inform decisions about returning to social distancing measures.

Probably elected officials, perhaps the Governor. It is not clear if the labs have the capacity to do this, but samples should be collected.
